The CO2 output from the buildings we live and work in make up a significant proportion of the UK Carbon Footprint and the heating and ventilation of those buildings accounts for more than 50% of that output. However, we all wish to live in an environment that is comfortable and sometimes the objects we keep in those buildings, such as computers and fine arts, can have even more exacting requirements.
As an Attitude Apprentice in the Building Controls Industry you would learn to control the Heating and Ventilation equipment within our customers buildings, providing the right environment whilst saving them energy and hence money. This can have a significant effect on the country’s Carbon Footprint.
Trend is the UK’s leading Building Controls Manufacturer and is a global player in this industry. Using technology led products to assist leading organisations, such as Land Rover, Triumph Motorcycles, London Eye, TK Maxx, Sainsbury’s and The Royal Bank of Scotland, to save money through energy efficient climate control of their buildings.

For 20 years Sainsbury’s have run a highly successful energy saving programme of which Trend controls have been the cornerstone. You can find Trend products in over 400 of Sainsbury’s UK supermarkets, providing control and monitoring of store lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. From this monitoring Trend provides a report that not only gives an indication of the probable cause of the problem, but will also assign a monetary cost to the incident. Trend 24/7 Bureau Services have enabled Sainsbury’s to demonstrate a huge energy saving, helping them save money and benefiting the environment at the same time.

Land Rover at Gaydon in Warwickshire operates on a large site with many buildings, which are networked by a Trend building controls system. The site is continually changing due to office moves and business growth, which means the Trend specialist has to work closely with Land Rover to ensure the effective operation of its buildings.
Land Rover prides itself on its Sustainable Development Policy, which balances its economic, environmental and social responsibilities. The Trend Controls specialist was asked to evaluate Land Rover’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning set up, where several opportunities were identified for improvement to reduce carbon emissions and save Land Rover money.
The Trend specialist then took 4 weeks to design and implement a control solution, which is projected to reduce the carbon emissions and energy consumption by 33%. An additional benefit for Land Rover is within a year the energy savings alone will pay for the work that was carried out.
